NEPZA To Commence Work On Katsina Textiles & Garments Park
The Nigeria Export Processing Zones Authority, NEPZA, says work will commence at the site of the Katsina Textiles & Garments Park in November this year.
The Managing Director of NEPZA, Prof. Adesoji Adesugba made this known when the Deputy Governor of Katsina State, Alhaji Mannir Yakubu visited him in Abuja.
Prof Adesugba said the Park was part of the three Special Economic Zones scheduled to be completed in 2022
According to him, the project which will be located in Funtua will ensure job creation, reduce youth restiveness and insecurity as well as boost the State’s economy.
The Managing Director of NEPZA stated that about 20 billion naira had already been budgetted for Six Special Economic Zones across the country towards repositioning the nation’s economy.
He explained that a Special Security Department would be established in all the Zones to ensure effective protection of lives and property of investors within the Special Economic Zones.
Prof. Adesoji Adesugba further stated that three Fire Fighting Trucks had already been purchased for fire safety prevention in Kano and Calabar Free Trade Zones as well as the Headquarters of NEPZA in Abuja.
While commending the support and efforts of President Muhammadu Buhari towards developing Special Economic Zones in the country, Prof. Adesoji Adesugba called on State Governments and relevant stakeholders to key into the economic programmes of NEPZA to fast track national economic development.
Earlier, the Deputy Governor of Katsina State, Alhaji Mannir Yakubu said the State Government had earlier made land available for the project.
He stated that necessary security arrangements had also been put in place for the success of the project.
While commending the support of NEPZA on the project, the Deputy Governor said the State Government was ready to also key into the Special Medical Economic Zones programme of the Agency towards strengthening health care delivery in the State.
