The residents of Faskari Local Government Area has appealed to Katsina State Government to restore electricity in the area vandalized by rain over 3 months ago to save them from perpetual power outage.

Some members of the affected communities told KATSINA POST that business activities in the area had been severely paralyzed and life had become unbearable in the last three months due to power outage.

Speaking to Katsina Post, Ibrahim M Bawa, a resident of Faskari, said that over three months they had reported the case several times to relevant authorities but to no avail.

“Ever since the incidence occurred, no one has made any effort to repair the damaged poles.

“We are left in darkness and this is really affecting us in the community”.

“The outage has really affected socio-economic activities in entire Faskari and its environs.

Malam Kabir Sheme, a resident of Sheme, said that the prolonged darkness had affected several businesses in Sheme and neighboring communities.

Kabir Sheme said that he spent N25,000 monthly to buy petrol and engine oil to power his electricity generator.

According to him, the petrol stations and roadside sellers were receiving more patronage now from residents who were forced to buy petrol to fuel their generators.

Malam Musa Isa, a business center operator in Yankara, said that business was no longer thriving due to the power outrage.

He appealed to the Governement to come to their assistance, adding that some of their tenants were relocating to neighbouring communities because of the outage.

Katsina Post reports that a renowned Islamic cleric in Faskari (Name withheld) during Eid sermon, had urged Katsina government and other stakeholders to hasten the restoration considering prevailing insecurity and hardship facing the affected communities.

Some of the affected communities include Faskari Ruwan Godia, Sheme, Yankara, Sabon layi and Maigora.
