Katsina Sacked LGs Officials Submit Total Salary, Allowances Claim To State Gov’t For Payment

The Katsina state Chapter of Association of local government of Nigeria ALGON (2014) has forwarded claims for payment of all entitlements due to its members.

The claim was forwarded to the Katsina state governor RtH Aminu Bello Masari, the speaker of the Katsina state house of assembly and the Attorney General of the state.

Chairman of the association Hon Ibrahim Lawal Dankaba also presented same to the Katsina state PDP Chairman Hon Salisu Yusuf Majigiri and thanked the chairman and PDP in general for standing with its members all through the over six years of struggle.

In a remark, the state PDP Chairman Hon Salisu Majigiri reiterated the party’s resolve to pursue the rights and benefits of its members to a reasonable conclusion citing the recent judgement of the supreme court which was granted in favour of PDP and ALGON as the bedrock for sustainable democracy.

Hon Majigiri also used the opportunity to call on governor Aminu Bello Masari to obey the judgement and act accordingly as many of the beneficiaries have lost their lives while waiting for justice leaving behind widows and orphans.

The supreme court while delivering its judgement on Suits no SC 244/2018, SC 958/2018 and SC 735/2018 on the 7th of May 2021 declared the act of dissolution of the elected local government council by Governor Aminu Masari as Ultra vires; unconstitutional, null and void.

The Supreme court ordered the state government to pay the appellants all their entitlements from the period they were removed from office to the expiration of their tenure.
