Why Honourable Commissioner of Education Associate Professor Badamasi Lawal Deserve our Accolades

By Gali Mansir

To offer admission into any of the Nigerian tertiary institutions, one must to pass a minimum of five credits including mathematics and and English In either of WAEC or NECO.

If we reflect the previous waec and neco results of Katsina state students in the years 2014, 2015, 2016 and 2017 and compare it with the present released results by Neco or Waec this year, we have to believe that education is the cardinal principle of APC administration in Katsina State and the appointment of Associate Professor Badamasi Lawal is based on merit, a well deserved appointment and he deserves our accolades. History cannot be forgotten, history won’t forget the immense contributions of Badamasi towards the development of educational sector in Katsina State.

Back to 2014, 2015, 2016 and 2017 statistics, Katsina state students pass WAEC with minimum of five credits including mathematics and English language are: 10.27%, 12.53%, 38.67 and 53.47% for 2014, 2015, 2016 and 2017, respectively.

Based on the above statistics, we recorded the rapid development and Archeivements made by Honourable Commissioner.

Last week on his interview he made an announcement of the of the released 2020 Waec and Neco results.
In 2020, the total of 53.982 candidate sat for NECO examination, among them, 48,988 candidates obtained five(5) credits in any subjects which of equivalent to 91%. Among 53,982 candidates, 33,310 students obtained five credits including English and Mathematics which is in a percentage of 63%.

In WAEC Examination, 22,884 candidates sat for the examination, among 22,884 candidates, 19,224 students obtained five(5) credits in any subjects and 9,313 candidates obtained five credits including mathematics and English which are in a percentage of 84.9% and 48% respectively.

Likewise on NABTEB, 770 students sat for the examination, among 770 students 576 students obtained five 5 credits in any subjects and 498 candidates obtained five credits including mathematics and English which are equivalent to 70.9% and 49%.
The overall percentage of candidates obtained minimum of five credits in all subjects for 2020 WAEC, NECO and NABTEB Examination is 88.6% which is a huge milestone.

Based on the above, it’s the right time for good people(s) of Katsina State to understand the fact that education is the cardinal principle of Masari Administration.

To be factual, how could these milestone be Archieve without having a highly qualified and expertise teachers, a trained teachers, reading aids, recruitment of highly qualified and experience teachers and maintainable infrastructure.??

Thank you Honourable Commissioner of Education for the rigorous training given to our teachers according to National Standard for G.P.E, supporting teachers and other professional development.
Thank you once again for streangtheen the teaching profession through the establishment of teaching professional standards, which identify what teacher should know and be able to do in the classroom.

Thank you His Excellency Rt Honourable Aminu Bello Masari for finding the Prof worthy to his appointment.

Gali Mansir written from Charanchi Local Government Katsina State.
