Eid-El-Fitr: Katsina residents lament high cost of chickens, other birds
Some Katsina residents expressed their displeasure over what they called exorbitant high cost of chickens and other birds ahead of Eid-El-Fitr Sallah celebrations.
Eid-El-Fitr is a day Muslim faithfuls celebrate after a month long of fasting each year.
When Katsina Post went round the Katsina metropolis and other nearby towns, Muslim faithfuls were observed making last minute efforts to buy items they need to celebrate the day with their families.
Because special dishes are being prepared on the day, items on high demand include meet and other vegetables which causes their prices to hike.
Residents interviewed by Katsina Post lamented how a chickens normally being sold at N1,300 to N1,500 are now being sold at over N2,000 to N2,500.
However, some of the dealers selling the chickens told Katsina Post that the hike in price is due to high cost of the chickens feed.
