Katsina Gov’t Inaugurates 17-man C’ttee On Bird Flu Outbreak
An Emergency Preparedness Response Committee on Bird Flu has been inaugurated in Katsina State.
The Special Adviser to Governor Masari on Livestock and Grazing Reserves, Dr. Lawal Usman Bagiwa Inaugurated Members of the Committee at an occasion held at Ministry of Agriculture.
Dr. Lawal Usman Bagiwa who is also the Chairman of the Committee solicited for the support of the Stakeholders to achieve the desired objectives.
The Special Adviser said the Inauguration of the Committee followed a directive from the State Governor on the need for more commitment to prevent the Outbreak of the Animal Disease.
Dr. Usman Bagiwa assured to work closely with Poultry Farmers and other Stakeholders to prevent the Outbreak of the Bird Flu in the State.
The Special Adviser noted that, the measure followed a report of the Outbreak of the disease in some parts of the State and stressed the need for more concerted effort to contain its spread.
He called on Poultry Farmers to report any strange disease to nearest Veterinary for prompt intervention.
The Committee has representatives from the State Ministries of Health, Environment and Information as well as Nigerians Police, DSS, Civil Defence and that of Poultry Farmers among others.
