Gov Masari spent over N3bn for state’s students exam fees – Official

The Katsina State Government under the leadership of Governor Aminu Bello Masari has spent over N3bn from 2015 to date for the payment of state’s Secondary Schools final year students examination fees.

This was disclosed by the Katsina State Commissioner for Education, Dr Badamasi Lawal Charanchi in an interview with an online local online media, Kabobi Multimedia and monitored by Katsina Post.

According to the Commissioner, the Katsina State Governor has attached so much importance to the education sector in his restoration agenda.

While confirming the state’s government payment of over N300m to the National Examination Council, NECO, the Commissioner also expressed his dissatisfaction to some sections of the Civil Society Organizations in State for threatening to launch appeal fund campaign to gather money and pay the Examination body for the state’s students 2019/2020 result.

“It (the money) has been paid (to NECO). So, I was wondering where were the people shouting and talking about the state’s non payment.

“Especially like I saw yesterday the Coalition saying they’ll make efforts to pay. What prevent them from paying they’re indigines of Katsina State, they can source for money from anywhere. They have the government and people of Katsina State.

“For six years, Katsina state has been grooming students; free education but none of them had ever made a comment on the efforts. Where were they then? Did they make efforts, they did shout?.

“From 2015 to date, the State Government has spent over N3.1b to settle students examinations fees.

“If government is making efforts, people and the parents should appreciate. NGOs and the like should appreciate. We’re given free education, free feeding, free books.

“Parents should appreciate what Katsina state government is doing not a few cliques who want to make noise but their ranting will not deter Katsina state government in its efforts to safeguard the education sector. We are here to reposition education”.
