CSOs ask Katsina gov’t to fasten release of students’ NECO results

1

The Coalition of Civil Society Organizations in Katsina state has joined other organizations and stakeholders in calling on the state government to hasten discussion with NECO for the release of 2019/2020 students results.

Recalled that the NECO is yet to release the state students results even after a part payment of N82,000,000 was made by the state government.

In a statement signed by the Chairman, Abdulrahman Abdullahi sent to Katsina Post, the Coalition urged the state government to sort pending issues with the National Examination Council for the release of said result.

According to him, there is no justification whatsoever for withholding the results of other students whose parents already paid for their exam through the state government.

The statement reads as follows:

PUBLIC SENIOR SECONDARY SCHOOL CANDIDATES OVER THE WITHHELD 2020 NECO RESULTS

The attention of the Coalition of Civil Society Organizations in Katsina State has been drawn to the plight of public senior secondary School candidates that sat for the 2020 NECO Examination in the state who are currently plunged into the state of uncertainty over advancing their educational pursuits anytime soon due to noon-released their National Examination Council (NECO) results.

The facts before the CCSO show that NECO refused to release the results over the inability of the Katsina State Government to defray the Examination fees the state owes NECO amounting to N400,000,000. Although a part payment of N82, 000,000 has been made.

Despite the part payment and the good understanding between NECO and the State Government, the results remained withheld; and this is reflecting badly on the image of the state and can as well pose threat to peace and harmony as most affected candidates and their parents/guardians are on edge especially the candidates who paid for themselves because they did not either sat or passed the qualifying examination as there is no justification whatsoever for withholding their results. This can depict negatively the development stride of the State.

To this effect, the Coalition is unequivocally calling on the State Government as a matter of urgency, to sort out issues with NECO so expedite the release of the results of these students to enable them moto veto the next educational level like their counterparts who graduated from private schools.

AbdurRahman Abdullahi Dutsin-Ma
(Chairman)
