Civil Society Group Asks Katsina Gov’t To Explain Over N900m For A 3km Road Contract
A registered Civil Society Organization, Katsina Budget Awareness Initiative in Katsina state has challenged the state Commissioner of Works, Housing and Transport, Alhaji Tasi’u Dahiru Dandagoro to provide public details on how N900M will be spent on the construction of a 3km road.
The group made the demand in a letter titled ‘ request for details of 3km road linking Katsina with Niger Republic’ dated 6th April and signed by its Secretary, Armaya’u Abdulhamid.
According to them the Katsina public demand an explanation as they alleged ” the contract sum is on the high side”.
They added that in line with Governor Masari’s open door and accountability policy it was imperative for the commissioner to furnish the general public on the details of the contract.
It could be recalled that the commissioner had in an interview with newsmen disclosed that the 3km road linking Katsina with Niger Republic’ was awarded to AFDIN construction company at the cost of N962 million.
