Katsina lawmaker visit market fire victims, says his donation will not be public 

Honourable member representing Katsina federal constituency, Hon Salisu Iro Isansi accompanied by his supporters and top aides have paid a sympathy visit to the victims of the Katsina central market fire incident on Saturday.

Speaking during the visit, Honorable Isansi said as part of his responsibility as lawmaker, he had already presented a motion of urgent need to provide relief materials for the victims at the floor of the House of Representatives last week.

The lawmaker who also went round the market for an on the spot assessment of the incident, said that the House of the House of Representatives led by Rt Hon Femi Gbajabiamila have since informed the relevant authorities to do the needful and that a delegation from the House will also come soon.

“After I tabled the motion, the agencies responsible for rendering humanitarian assistance have been intimated by the incidence, seeking for assistance to the affected traders.

“We will continue to seek for assistance from those saddle with the responsibility of rendering humanitarian assistance.

“We would not make our personal pledges public, I’ll rather reach out to others because we are under a certain leadership. I promise you that when we collate what we’re able to contribute, I’ll reach out to the leadership of the market to give our contribution”, he said.

Isansi also commended the resilience of the traders and their leaders, stressing that it has shown that the incident has been accepted as a will of God.

He however called on those affected to see the inferno as a trial of faith from God, calling on market leaders to ensure that adequate measures are taken to avert future occurrence.

Responding, Chairman of the Central market, Abbas Labaran Albaba commended the lawmaker for his efforts in securing assistance for the sake of the the affected traders, noting that the market leadership would not forget his giant strides.

Isansi was received at the market by Albaba, Chairman of Katsina state traders association, Mujtaba Lamis Gafai, Special Adviser to Gov. Masari on market development, Abubakar Yusuf Saulawa among others.
