Katsina Future Summit: Gov Masari promised gov’t support
The Katsina State governor, Aminu Bello Masari, has assured the Save Katsina Group that his administration would give the required support for success of their Future Summit initiative.
The governor gave the assurance on Wednesday when the group paid him a visit to intimate him about the project tagged Katsina state Future Summit: Projection and Planning the Future of Katsina state for the next 10 years, 2021 to 2031.
“We will support you institutionally, because as a government, anybody who comes with this initiative, is actually helping government to actualize the most fundamental reason of governance itself.
“I assure you, we will give you all the necessary support, we will participate as Katsina state citizens,” he said.
The governor expressed his delight for having an array of young men and women in the state coming up with a fantastic idea of developing the state, saying “it is very encouraging to have young men and women with lofty ideas.”
“We always believe that bringing young minds and young brains into the system, will infuse into the system fresh ideas. And as know, you are at the age of taking risks and we are at the age of being too cautious. That is why it is always good to have the exuberance of youth together with the wisdom of the old in order to drive society well,” Masari said.
He then advised the group to remain resolute if they were to bring their initiative to fruition, adding that they have to be fully armed with the necessary information to be able to face the attendant challenges that come with such fabulous initiatives.
Earlier in his remarks, the coordinator of the group, Comrade Hamza Umar Saulawa, said the group has decided to mobilize all Katsina state citizens for a three-day summit from 14-16 June,2021, to generate realistic ideas that will move the state forward from 2021-2031.
“The uniqueness of this forthcoming summit is that the initiative will spring from bottom to top. All categories of societies Will be invited to participate in this summit.
“It is going to be a Katsina state Citizens’ Summit. The resolutions of the summit will be published into a Book, entitled Renaissance and Rebirth in Katsina state. The Book will be the working document for present and subsequent leaders,” he said.
Some of the targets of the summit include reducing illiteracy in Katsina state by 90%, restoring security and peace,eliminating hunger and poverty, reducing by 90% maternal and child mortality rate and reducing 90% of youth unemployment amongst many others.
