Police arrest suspected killer of SMEDAN boss brother, kidnapper of Katsina monarch 

The police command in Katsina State has succeeded in the arrest of a 35-year-old member of notorious bandit and a member of kidnap for ransom syndicate Lawal Umar alias “Bammi”.

Bammi is from Tsaskiya Village Safana Local Government Area of Katsina State.

This is contained in a statement signed by the command’s Public Relations Officer SP Gambo Isah and made available to newsmen in Katsina.

According to the police statement, the suspect confessed to have participated in several attacks on villages in Safana, Dutsinma and Charanchi LGA of Katsina State.

The suspect confessed to have also participated in the kidnapping of village head of Radda, Charanchi LGA in which they shot and killed the junior brother of the village head one Alhaji Aminu Umar ‘m’ aged 60years.

Further more, he confessed to have received the sum of one million naira as his own share of the ransome they collected from the relatives of the village head before his release.

He confessed to be a member of the camp of one notorious bandit’s leader Tukur Mai Kusa who is on the Command wanted list.

In a related news, the police also says it has neutralized one of the bandits terrorizing Safana Local Government Area of the state and recovered his AK47 riffle with two rounds of 7.62mm live ammunition.

A locally fabricated revolver Rifle and a motorcycle were also recovered  during the course of investigation.

The statement said the Police patrol team attached to Safana Division while on routine patrol along Runka to Baure axis, before reaching Illela Village had an encounter with bandits numbering about five, Armed with Ak-47 riffles.

SP Gambo Isa pointed out that the team engaged the hoodlums in a fierce gun duel as a result of which one of the bandits was neutralized while investigation into the matter has commenced.
