Katsina gov’t train persons with disabilities on trades for self-reliance

Katsina State Government has re-stated its determination towards improving the living conditions of people with Special Needs.

The Senior Special Assistant to Governor Masari on Physically Challenged Persons, Alhaji Ya’u Rufa’I Zakka stated this at the Closing Ceremony on Entrepreneurship Training organized for people with Special Needs.

The Senior Special Assistant expressed appreciation over the Training being conducted, saying it will assist greatly in reducing Street Begging among the Physically Challenged Persons in the State.

Alhaji Ya’u Rufa’I Zakka commended the Organizers of the Training over the concern being shown to people with Disability and called for its sustenance.

He called on the Participants to make good utilization of the knowledge.

Earlier, the Coordinator of the Students, Alhaji Salisu ‘Kerau said the Training was meant to assist the people with Special Needs to becoming self-reliance.

The Trades taught to the Participants include Shoes Making, Catering, as well as Tailoring among others.

A cross section of the Participants expressed appreciation to the Student’s Association over the Training and assured to make good utilization of the Skills acquired.

  1. I wish to report an error in this reporting. Seems the news has been skewed because it was not Katsina state govt. that trained these people nor they have any hand in the workshop; it’s rather but NGO called the KL-YES Alumni Association Nigeria (KL-YAAN). The workshop was funded in part by the US Department of State and administered by American Council.
Please do always be just in your reporting and give credit to the appropriate individuals or bodies.
    Thank you.

    Regards,
Project Leader, Beyond Any Boundary workshop
