Joint security operation kill 8 bandits in Katsina

No fewer than eight bandits were killed when a joint police-military patrol team on raided the camps of some bandits in the Safana Local Government Area of Katsina State in a three day operation which ended on Sunday.

It was learnt that members of the team also recovered one AK-47 rifle and burnt nine motorcycles belonging to the bandits.

The spokesman for the Katsina State Police Command, SP Gambo Isah, confirmed this in Katsina on Monday at a press conference.

He said the operation took place around Guzurawa and Garin Gambo villages.

Isah said, “Between February 26 and 28, 2021, the command in collaboration with the Nigerian Army, jointly raided bandits’ camps behind Guzurawa and Garin Gambo villages, both of Safana LGA of Katsina State; notorious bandit enclaves. The operation succeeded and neutralised eight bandits, recovered nine burnt motorcycles and one AK-47 rifle, with five rounds of 7.62mm ammunition.”

The command spokesman also revealed that on February 17, 2021, around 5pm, the Kankara Divisional Police Officer and his team overpowered bandits who attacked Zango village in Kankara LGA, during which one AK-47 rifle and three magazines were recovered.

“On February 22, 2021 around 4pm, based on a tip-off, the command succeeded in arresting one Usman Ahmed, of Sabon Barka Road, Dandume LGA of Katsina State, a notorious member of a kidnap-for-ransom syndicate,” he added.

  1. It’s so saddened and unfortunate happenings in our dear state. Community policing is the best option but before then I wish the government will be proactive to constitute local security committees from ward levels and also engage them with little allowances. May Allah SWT bring an end to these calamities… Aameen Ya Rabbal aalamiin
