NDLEA arrest 92 drug abusers in Katsina tertiary institutions
Katsina State Command of the National Drugs Law Enforcement Agency, NDLEA says it has arrested 446 drugs suspects from January last year to date in the state.
The State Commandant of the agency, Momodu Sule disclosed this while briefing journalists at the command headquarters in Katsina.
According to him, 92 out of the arrested suspects are students of tertiary institutions in the state.
He said the agency had series of meetings with heads of tertiary institutions in the state on the need to be conducting drug tests for students, with a view to addressing the menace among them.
Momodu sule added that, the command equally seized over 701 kilograms of various drugs and secured 54 convictions within the period.
He raised alarm over high level of drug abuse and trafficking in the state, saying almost all categories of people have been involved in the illicit act in the year 2020.
The Katsina State NDLEA Commandant, thanked the state government, sister agencies and Emirs of Daura and Katsina for being support of the agency.
Momodu Sule, who lamented lack of support from the public, enjoined them to join hands with the agency to win the war against drug abuse and trafficking in the state.
