Katsina gov’t train, empower over 2,000 youths 

Katsina State Government has trained and empowered over two thousand youth across the state to make them self reliant.

The Governor Rt Hon Aminu Bello Masari disclosed this in a message at a Graduation Ceremony of 510 youth under the State Inter-Local government Maiden Skills Acquisition Programme organized by Katsina Amalgamated Youth Entrepreneurs Development Cooperative Union, YEDCU held at Old Government House Katsina.

The Governor, who was represented by the Commissioner of Commerce and Industries Alhaji Mukhtar Abdulkadir charged the graduands to ensure utilisation of the skills they have a acquired by training others in their domain to fight restiveness among the youth.

The Governor emphasised the need for the graduands who were mostly women to be objective and trustworthy while practicing the skills they acquired.

Governor Masari, who pledged to maintain the tempo of providing succour to 60% of women out of the state’s population through empowerment, commended the Union for organizing the programme.

In his speech, the Secretary to the Government of the State, Dr. Mustapha Inuwa, who is the Special Guest at the occasion, assured that the state government was striving hard to cushioning the flight of the youth across the state.

The SGS pointed out that, both government at the state and federal level can not cater for the teaming youth in terms of employment.

He stressed that both employed and unemployed must wake up by engaging on one trade or the other.

While congratulating the graduands for successful training, Dr Mustapha Inuwa also commended the Union for successfully organizing such training aimed at complimenting government effort.

Earlier, the Chairman of the Amalgamated Union, Alhaji Sani Sada stated that, currently over three thousand male and female youth have undergone skills acquisition training.

Sani Sada applauded the effort of SGS for his support and contributions extended to the Union, adding that the SGS alone empowered over one thousand women across the state.

While emphasizing the need for the graduands to continue supporting government policies and programmes, charged them to ensure objective utilization of what they learnt.
He therefore thanked the state government over the supportive gesture extended to the Union.

Later awards of excellence were extended to the state Governor and the Secretary to the Government of the State.
