Supreme Court rules on Katsina dissolved LGAs Chairmen, councilors on Monday
The Supreme Court has fixed Monday, the 1st of February, 2021 for the ruling on the dissolved Katsina Local Governments Chairmen and councilors.
This is contained in a letter dated 28th January, 2021, signed and stamped by the Registrar Tunde Adebakin.
The court case to be ruled on is between the Peoples Democratic Party and Katsina State Governor.
Recall that Katsina State Governor, Rt Hon Aminu Bello Masari dissolved the elected Local Government officials of the state in 2015 shortly after assuming office over alleged misappropriation of public funds.
The Peoples Democratic Party then, filed a case challenging the decision of the government.
When contacted regarding the upcoming judgement, the Katsina State Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party, Honorable Salisu Yusuf Majigiri said they are hopeful that the apex court will right the wrong by restoring democratically elected local government officials as enshrined in section 7 of the 1999 constitution (as amended) and that will surely be victory for Democracy in Katsina State and indeed Nigeria.
