FG, World Bank partners to empower 180,000 households in Katsina 

The Federal Government in collaboration with the World Bank has introduced a Rapid Response Register to support urban poor affected by Covid-19 Pandemic.

More than one hundred and eighty thousand households have been selected in Katsina State to benefit from the gesture.

Katsina State Coordinator of the National Social Safety Net Programme Aliyu Isa Girka disclosed this when the Management of the State Coordinating Unit visited KTTV.

Alhaji Aliyu Isa Girka explained that in Katsina State only nineteen Political Wards in twelve Local Governments have been chosen to enjoy with the gesture.

He said the gesture was meant to assist those who have lost their means of livelihood as a result of Covid-19 lock down experienced recently.

The State Coordinator enumerated that the beneficiaries were identified through a Satellite image in the density populated areas in the urban Centres and slumps.

He added that these selected areas were mostly dominated by vulnerable who deserved the concern of the society to improve their lives.

Alhaji Sani Garba Kuringafa noted that previously a lot of empowerment programmes were introduced but failed due to improper coordination.

He said the purpose of their visit is to solicit for the support of KTTV to enlighten the general public on the importance of the programme.

Responding, the acting General Manager of KTTV Alhaji Murtala Maikudi advised the visitors to include Ulamas, religious and Political leaders to enlighten people on the subject matter in social and religious gatherings.

Alhaji Murtala Maikudi pledged the support of the Station to the success of the programme.

He commended the Federal Government for introducing the programme which has direct bearing to the common man.
