Hundreds of security agents including police, army and local vigilante groups are currently cordoning in forests and bushes around Kankara town in search of the missing school students believe to have been kidnapped by gunmen on Friday night.

Katsina Post learned that army and police officers were mobilized to the scene of the terror attack since Friday night when the incident happened and this morning, the officers of the airforce from Katsina were deployed to the area with helicopters and warplanes.

Early reports gotten by Katsina Post from eyewitnesses suggested that the gunmen entered into Dan Sabau forest with the students.

Gunmen attacked GSSS Kankara, kidnap many students

A schoolteacher who spoke to our reporter on the condition of anonymity said the bandits launched the attack shortly after prep at 9:30pm.

He said the bandits started shooting sporadically in the air, causing commotion and stampede before scaling over the fence and breaking the gate.

According to him, the school has over 800 students, with the exception of JS3 and SS3 students who are now out of school.

Parents, caregivers stormed the school in search of their children

Katsina Post learned that there is apprehension in the school this morning as parents and caregivers are currently trooping to the school from far and near searching for their children.

The school is also taking headcount of the total students in an effort to ascertain the number of the missing students.
