Character defamation: Katsina Assembly member demand N100m damages from Mahdi Shehu
The Honorable member representing Malumfashi constituency in the Katsina State House of Assembly, Hon Aminu Ibrahim has dragged whistleblower, Alhaji Mahdi Shehu before the Katsina State High Court of Justice accusing him of defamation of Character, Katsina Post learned.
In another development, the court also gave an order mandating the defendant to appear before it within 21 days of service of the summon notice.
Earlier, Hon Aminu Ibrahim through his lawyers, filed a complaint against the defendant accusing him of defamation of Character against his person in one of the defendant’s videos clips he released in Hausa.
In the court suit, Katsina Post learned that the plaintiff prayed for the court to mandate the defendant to pay the sum of One Hundred Million Naira in general damages for defamation of his character and injurious falsehood.
Other prayers by the plaintiff are for the Court mandate the defendant to retrain from his defamatory statement and injury falsehood against the Plaintiff and tender apology in not less than 2 national dally newspaper as well as for him to be paid the Sum et Five million Naira special damages being the fees paid to his Counsel and also Cost of filing the Suite.
