As Masari administration and Mahadi saga about to reach climax – By Aliyu Ibrahim
These two issues in my opinion may escalate the situation and cause more problems for the State Government.
1. In the summons going round the social media, Mahdi Shehu is alleged to have committed 2 offences namely: forgery and inciting public disturbance.
I still wonder why the administration has refused to charge him with criminal defamation that is one offence they can easily establish, as even yesterday he used defamatory words in reference to those in the administration.
Charging Mahdi with this offence and establishing it before a court will solve the problems of the Masari led administration by proving that he is a liar, all the documents he has uploaded will be ignored by the generality of the public. Most important of all, he will be hanged in the court of public opinion, every politician’s dream. The admin’s tattered integrity will be fully restored. Anything less will be a waste of time, even if he is convicted.
2. Employing a private legal practitioner to prosecute a case at a Magistrate Court.
HABAAAAA! the Magistrate Court is were corper lawyers cut their teeth in litigation. Why would the personal lawyer of the SGS be given a fiat to prosecute Mahdi at a lower court despite having lawyers in the Ministry of Justice that have appeared before the Supreme Court and are seasoned Prosecutors with more experience in this type of case than the lawyer of the SGS? This does not make sense🤔.
I don’t see Mahdi appearing before His Worship on that day (if he does, he should be prepared to pass some nights in prison). His lawyers will likely challenge the jurisdiction of the Court which will be overruled and then the appeals will begin, which will last till after 2023, the case will likely die a natural death. In the interim, the tapes will keep rolling.
Why is it the Masari administration afraid of filing a defamation case (civil or criminal) against Mahdi Shehu? Are its hands as dirty as Mahdi Shehu alleges?🤔
