10 LGAs in Katsina are bankrupt, insolvent – Official
The Honorable Commissioner of Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, Katsina State, Rt Hon Ya’u Umar Gojo-Gojo said that more than 10 Local Government Areas of Katsina State can not execute any project with their income after they paid salaries and others other wages.
Leadership A Yau reported that Hon Gojo-gojo made this known when he was answering questions from journalists about the situation of Local Government Areas casual staff.
“We will actually be doing more harm than good to those Local Government Areas if those casual staff were converted to permanent staff, because more than 10 of them can not execute any project after paying salaries and wages,” he said.
The Honorable Commissioner also said the conversion of the casual staff to permanent is not the responsibility of his ministry and that the office of the Head of Service had already began moves in that regard.
Gojo-gojo also listed some of the achievements of his ministry to include distribution of Covid-19 relief materials to residents of the 34 Local Government Areas and funding of the rehabilitation of roads in the state by the Katsina State Roads Maintainance Agency, KASROMA.
Other achievements of the ministry are the monthly distribution of drugs to Primary Health Care Centers, renovation of Kusada Police Station burnt by rioters among others.
