IGP Commissions Multi-million Naira Police Children School In Daura

The Inspector-General of Police (IGP), Mohammed Abubakar Adamu, on Wednesday, commissioned a 32-classroom police children school in Daura, Katsina state.

The IGP, represented by the DIG in charge of Finance and Administration of the force, Abdul Dahiru Danwawu, said the school was a corporate social responsibility of the force and it was not meant only for the children of the police but also the populace of the area.

He said the force has a total of 103 of such primary schools and 66 secondary schools across the country.

Earlier in her welcome address, the force education officer, DCP Rabi Umar, said the school was established in January 2017 at a temporary site in order to bring affordable and quality education to the children of the officers and men of the Nigerian police in Daura and its environs.

She said due to the growing population of the pupils in the school, there was the need to build the permanent site, and as such the force approached the government of Katsina state for land and the governor, Aminu Bello Masari, gave them 1.008 acres of land in Daura.

In his remarks, the Emir of Daura, Alh. Faruk Umar Faruk, thanked the IGP and the Nigerian Police Force for the gesture, while calling on other federal ministries and establishments to follow suit.
