FUDMA Collaborates With ABU On Agriculture, Security

Federal University, Dutsinma (FUDMA) in Katsina State, is collaborating with Ahmadu Bello University on agriculture and security.

The institution’s Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Armaya’u Hamisu Bichi, who disclosed this when he visited his Ahmadu Bello counterpart, Prof. Kabir BAla in Zaria today, said FUDMA as a new university stood to benefit immensely from the collaboration.

Represented by a six-member delegation led by the Director, Academic Planning and Quality Assurance, Prof. Aminu Dalha Kankiya at the visit, Prof. Bichi confessed that Federal University, Dutsinma considered ABU as its mother because a good number of its academic and non-teaching staff were from Ahmadu Bello University.

He said that the mother – daughter relationship between ABU and FUDMA would continue to exist and expressed hope that the ties would benefit both institutions in the long run.

The Vice-Chancellor, Ahmadu Bello University, Prof. Kabir Bala, who received the delegation warmly in his office, assured that ABU would give the newly established Federal Government university all the necessary support to succeed.

Prof. Bala said it was understandable that FUDMA was collaborating with Ahmadu Bello University given its strength in the study of agriculture and size of its security outfit.

“I can clearly understand the wisdom of FUDMA in seeking collaboration with Ahmadu Bello University in these two areas: agriculture and security. And, we will be happy to see that your new university succeeds in its determination to lay a solid foundation”, he said.

The Vice-Chancellor, who also assured that the ABU agric complex and security division would be at hand to help FUDMA in the collaboration, said ABU had been mandated by the National Universities Commission (NUC) to nurture Federal University, Dutsinma.

Members of the FUDMA delegation led by Director, Academic Planning and Quality Assurance, Prof. Aminu Dalha Kankiya, included Dean, Postgraduate School, Prof. Abdullahi Saulawa; Deputy Dean, Faculty of Agriculture, Dr. Sanusi Jari; Director, Security Division, Col. U.D. Abubakar (rtd) and Deputy Registrar, Council Affairs, Malam Nasiru Abdul.
