Abundant deposit of Silica mineral discovered in Katsina State
Katsina State has abundant Silica mineral deposit – Official
The is an abundant deposit of Silica mineral resource in Katsina State according to a Federal Government official with National Agency for Science and Engineering Infrastructure (NASENI).
The Executive Vice Chairman of the Agency, Professor Mohammed Sani Haruna made this known during his presentation when he led other staff of the agency to a courtesy visit to Katsina State governor at his office.
Katsina Post learned that Silica, SiO2, is a chemical compound that is composed of one silicon atom and two oxygen atoms. It appears naturally in several crystalline forms, one of which is quartz.
Katsina state is reputable for its rich and abundant resources in Silica, a major raw material need for the manufacturing of Solar cells, solar panels and even glass wares.
During their visit, an agreement was also entered between the state government and the agency for the establishment of an Engineering Materials & Equipment Development Institute (EMEDI).
The new Institute will immediately embark on Solar Cell Research and development and the fabrication of Equipment and Machinery towards exploration of the Silica minerals and glassware resources in the State.
