We have impacted on 69,000 lives in PLBC – Muttaqha Rabe
The President of Pleasant Library And Book Club, PLBC, Dr. Muttaqha Rabe Darma has said that the center had impacted on the lives of no fewer than 69,000 since it was established about three years ago.
Dr Muttaqha Rabe who made this known during an interview with newsmen in his office on Thursday also said that the center runs various programs that have a direct impact on people ranging from education, health, entrepreneurship, research, Islamic and contemporary studies and many more.
While narrating how it all started, Dr Darma said he conceived the idea of the center since his time as a University Lecturer in Bayero University, Kano in 1994 when he together with other people from Katsina noticed with dismay how the dwindling state education among Katsina State students.
“When I was a young university lecturer in BUK, I, together with other like-minded people noticed how the number of University students from Katsina was reducing year-in-year-out while their number is increasing in other sub-university courses.
“This forced us to come off with a Committee of Concerned Citizens of Katsina with the main aim of helping the Katsina State students to make up their Secondary School leaving examination and get the required credit for university courses.”
Pleasant Library and Book Club (PLBC) is a non-profit and non-political organization that provides solutions, services and supports to addressing socio-economic issues in Katsina State. It is a philanthropic intervention aimed to build a better and empowered society in Katsina state in line with 21st-century civilization.
