The Katsina State Government will pay over 1billion naira scholarship to both foreign and local students of the state, the Director-General Katsina State scholarship Board (KTSSB), Isa Ahmed, has said.
Mr. Ahmed revealed this to journalists while presenting laptop computers to 53 foreign law students on Monday in his office donated by Katsina state government.
According to him, the amount to be paid will cover both newly admitted and existing Katsina students of foreign and local tertiary institutions.
He said, “Our scholarship budget in the year 2020 is over N800 million in addition to the pending expenses of our foreign students studying at various institutions in Jordan, the amount will rose to over N1billion”.
He said the plight of the students was being taken seriously, adding that “we just paid N291 million scholarship to about 22, 000 students of tertiary institutions through their bank accounts, we are now working on settling those students that couldn’t be paid due to account problem.
Mr. Ahmed explained that apart from the payment of scholarship, the government would also focus on improving the standard of living of all Katsina state students.
While speaking on behalf of the beneficiaries, Mohammad Mukhtar Lawal thank the state government for providing to them all the necessary support they needed throughout their studies.
“On behalf of other beneficiaries, I want to thank the Governor of Katsina for all the necessary support we received, the laptops and the money he gave us couple with the timely settlements of our bills”. He said
