Group Ask Gov Masari to Prosecute Sacked Pilgrims Board Management
A group, Citizens Participation Against Corruption Initiative in Katsina has charged the Executive Governor of Katsina State, Rt Hon Aminu Bello Masari to prosecute the management of the Katsina State Pilgrims Welfare Board he dissolved earlier.
This call was made by the group’s Executive Director, Comrade Bishir Dauda Sabuwar Unguwa during a chat with Katsina Post.
According to him, “Pilgrims Welfare Board is one of the many Governmental Agencies where corruption is being perpetrated with impunity in Katsina State.
“This is because they know that they have every chance of going Scot-free.
“It has become a citadel of fraud, racketeering and all forms of sharp practices”.
Comrade Dauda then charged the Governor to make sure that they are charged to court and prosecuted if found guilty so that it will serve as a deterrent to others and for posterity.
“It is not enough to mere dissolve the board, but Governor Masari should make sure that the alleged perpetrators are brought to book.
“They should be arrested and prosecuted. They should never allow to enjoy their stolen loot. This would serve as deterrent to others,” he said.
Comrade Dauda also called on the Governor to assent the bill to establish a state Anti-corruption and Public Complaints commission as that will further portray his seriousness and committed to the fight against corruption.
Recall that in September, the Governor relieved the Pilgrims Welfare Board and the Executive Secretary of the board of their duties.
Moreover, recently the Governor while speaking when he received the 2019 Hajj report said the government dissolved the state pilgrims’ welfare board and sacked its executive secretary after a report revealed “under dealing and racketeering” in collusion with service providers in Saudi Arabia.
