JUST IN: Bill to rename Fed Polytechnic Daura after late Sen. Mustapha Bukar passes second reading
A Bill for an Act to re-name Federal Polytechnic Daura as ‘Mustapha Bukar Polytechnic in honor of the Late Senator, sponsored by Distinguished Senator Ahmad Babba Kaita ( Katsina North) Passes Second Reading in the Senate today.
This is contained in a statement signed by the Special Assistant to Senator Kaita on Media, Mallam Abdulkadir Lawal sent to Katsina Post.
Recalled that the Bill was read for the first time on Wednesday 9th, October 2019.
According to the statement, the Bill was Basically motivated by the need to immortalize Late Senator Mustapha Bukar for his immense contribution to the Public sector generally and in particular his indelible legacies in the Education sector.
Senator Kaita while leading the debate on the Bill, explained how committed he was to ensure that the Institution as envisioned and conceived by the late Senator becomes a reality, and expressed delight on seeing the all-important project come to fruition.
In his submission, the President of the Senate Dr Ahmad Lawan commended Senator Kaita for raising the bar this high, adding that, his effort of immortalizing the late Senator was legendary.
While lending their voices in favor of the Motion, Senator Abdullahi Barkiya Representing Katsina Central and Bello Mandiya of Katsina South gave their collective support for the passage of the Bill.
The Bill was later referred to the Senate Committee on Tertiary Institutions and TETFUND for further legislative action.
Recall that, Late Senator Mustapha Bukar on assumption of office at the 18th Senate sponsored the Bill for the Establishment of Federal Polytechnic Daura which was passed by the 8th Senate and graciously given Presidential assent by His Excellency President Muhammadu Buhari GCFR.
