Bandit Attack: Village head of Yandaka dies at Kano Hospital

The death has occurred of Shehu Iliyasu Ruma, Magaji Dan Alhaji, the Village Head of Yandaka in Batsari LG, Katsina State.

The village head reportedly died early hours of today November 21, 2019, at Kano Hospital.

Recalled that late Shehu Iliyasu Ruma was a victim of Batsari Bandits attack where he was shot and his family was kidnapped in his home at Yandaka village.

He left behind a wife and 10 Children.

Katsina Post had earlier reported that Suspected bandits have attacked Yandaka village in Batsari local government area of Katsina state, injuring the village head in the process.

During the attack, the bandits also abducted the wife and three children of the village head from his residence.

The spokesperson for the Katisna Police command, Isah Gambo, while confirming the incident said: “It is true that he (the village head) was attacked and some of his children were kidnapped as well.

Daily Trust reports that Shehu Iliyasu was critically injured as he was said to have been shot in the head and hand.

Sources within the community said the village head was rushed to a hospital in Katsina but was later referred to the Aminu Kano Teaching Hospital for brain surgery.

A source said: “He is in currently in a critical condition because of the bullet wounds.
