Yellow Fever Outbreak: Bandits in Katsina beg health workers to vaccine them

Suspected armed bandits in Katsina living in bushes have reportedly sent their representatives and appealed to the constituted authorities around them to help them send some teams of vaccinators in the ongoing massive yellow fever vaccination campaign going on in the State.

Katsina Post checks revealed that the suspected bandits bordering rural settlements in some of the most affected Local Governments reportedly raised a team from their hideouts and met some of the vaccinators there and begged them to vaccinate them.

“They met us at our duty post and begged us to follow them to their hideout to vaccinate them but of cause, we refused”, one of the vaccinators in Danmusa who pleaded for anonymity told Katsina Post.

“You know recently many of the bandits died in the bush due to this yellow fever, it seems like they have now understood the importance of the vaccine and want to get protected”, he added.

Recall that a notorious kidnap kingpin, simply known as Alhaji T.K and 11 other ring leaders terrorizing Katsina and Zamfara axis, has been killed in suspected Yellow Fever attack within one week.

Daily Nigerian gathered that Alhaji T.K had controlled over 200 bandits operating in a forest stretching from Birnin Gwari, Sabuwa, Faskari, Danmusa, Jibiya down to the Niger Republic.

Recall also that the state government commenced a 10-day yellow fever vaccination across 33 out of the 34 local government areas of Katina State.

The exercise began on Saturday, 29th September.

Only the Danja Local Government Area was exempted from the exercise because vaccination was carried out in the area in 2018.
