Meet Sheikh Abubakar Funtua – the only African jury of the 41st Int’l Qur’anic competition, Makkah
Katsina State has again come to the limelight and prove to be the home of knowledge and bravery.
Funtua is a Local government of Katsina State located in the southern part of the state.
Katsina Post learnt that Sheikh Abubakar Sa’ed Funtua an indigen of the state was the only African Man that was selected to act in the capacity of a Judge in the 41st King Abdulaziz International Holy Quran Competition in Makkah.
Our checks revealed that the competition was concluded today and Prince Khalid Al-Faisal bin Abdulaziz, Advisor to the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques and Governor of Makkah witnessed the closing ceremony.
The activities of the competition, which has a total prize of 1,185,000 Saudi riyals, included the participation of 146 contestants from 103 countries.
The number of contestants since the beginning of King Abdulaziz International Competition for the Holy Quran Memorization, Recitation and Interpretation 41 years ago and up to this session has reached more than 6300 contestants from all over the world.
