Insecurity: GOC 8 division, Nigeria army visit Katsina on assessment tour
The Katsina State Government will not relent in its quest to ensure that the lives and properties of its citizens are well protected and taken care of, no matter the cost.
Governor Aminu Bello Masari stated this while receiving the new General Officer Coomanding (GOC) the 8 Division of the Nigerian Army Sokoto, Maj.-Gen. H.O. Otiki when he paid a courtesy call at General Muhammadu Buhari House Katsina.
The Governor reiterated that the essence of leadership is to protect the people, their Honour and integrity, adding that “without them we are nothing and we will have nothing to govern”.
Governor Masari used the opportunity to commend the Nigerian Army on the change of approach and manner of display of professionalism in recent times in the fight against banditry in the state that has started yielding positive results.
Maintaining that the state government is ready more than ever before to sustain its support to the Army and even make improvements where necessary to ensure that the people are well secured and protected.
Earlier, the GOC, Maj.-Gen. H.O. Otiki informed the Governor that they were in Katsina for an on the spot assessment of the situation on the ground and to encourage and boost the morale of troops at the Frontline in the Exercise Harbin Kunama.
The GOC was accompanied by the Brigade Commander of the 17 Brigade Nigerian Army Katsina Brigadier General Aminu Bande who also took turn to brief the Governor on the positive results being recorded since his assumption of duty as the head of the brigade.
