Abu Ammar vows to continue to speak ‘truth the power’ after being released by DSS

A Katsina-based arrested Islamic cleric, Aminu “Abu Ammar” Usman, was last night released after spending 48 hours in the custody of the Department of State Services (DSS).

Usman was invited and detained by the DSS after a sermon in which he criticized the present administration as being non-challant on the worsening insecurity across the country.

The cleric confirmed his release in a post he made on his personal Facebook page and seen by Katsina Post.

In the post he made in Hausa, Abu Ammar thanked everybody who prayed for him during the time of his detention.

He also confirmed his release in a telephone conversation with Daily Trust reporter.

He said: “Yes, I was released Thursday at about the time of breaking the fast, it was officials of the DSS that brought me home.”

He confirmed that his invitation and subsequent detention was in connection to the said pre-Hudba sermon that went viral.

However, during his daily Tafseer, the cleric on Friday while commenting about his arrest vowed to continue to speak the truth to power no matter how bitter it would be.
