The Emir of Daura, Umar Faruk Umar, has thanked the people for their continuous prayers for the safe return of his younger brother, the Magajin Garin Daura, Musa Umar Uba, who was abducted two weeks ago, Daily Trust reports.
It is the first time the traditional ruler spoke public about the abduction which took place on May 1, 2019.
The Emir spoke in his palace yesterday when he received a delegation of his subjects from Maiadua Local Government Area, who paid him Ramadan homage.
He said Nigerians must repent and seek Allah’s forgiveness for the country to overcome its security challenges and prosper.
The emir said: “The change of attitude on the part of the people led us into our present conditions and predicaments.
“For us as a nation, state or emirate to prosper, we must repent and love our country wholeheartedly as well as love our brothers and support the less privileged and the most vulnerable.”
Security agencies had said that key suspects in connection with the abduction of the Magajin Gari have been arrested. Sources in the family said the abductors have still not made any contact with them.
