Federal gov’t promised 74,000 new businesses in Katsina

National Directorate of Employment (NDE) has stated that it would create additional 74,000 small-scale businesses in Katsina to boost the nation’s economy.
Minister of Labour and Employment, Dr. Chris Ngige, disclosed this recently at the flag-off of training the trainers of NDE in Katsina.
Ngige said employment creation through skills acquisition “offers a realistic and sustainable option for the nation in its drive to reduce unemployment across the country.”
He said the government had to step up efforts at exploring and fully harnessing the informal sector, adding that the “days of white collar jobs are over.”
In his remarks, Governor Aminu Masari, represented by his Special Adviser on Employment and Vocation, Hussaini Adamu Karadua, said at least 400 women, through the efforts and collaboration between the NDE and Future Assured, “have been trained in various income generating activities and empowered with relevant starter packs and have since become players in the microeconomic landscape of the state.”
Earlier, the Director-General, NDE, Nasir Ladan, said the Directorate “offers viable platforms aimed at creating informal jobs for the unemployed,” adding that “this new drive intends to engage 76,400 youths across the country.”
