The Command also said the arrest, which was between January and June, busted notorious drug syndicates that are based in Karofi, Dustin-ma Local Government Area of the state among others, with drugs weighing 206.2241 kilogramme.

The NDLEA State Commander, Maryam Sani, who disclosed this during an event to commemorate the United Nations Day Against Drug Abuse and Illicit Trafficking, also vowed that the days of inglorious trade in hard drugs was almost over in the state as some of its personnel had been trained in new strategy and technology to arrest drug lords.

NDLEA operative Maryam said other 95 suspects apprehended were undergoing various stages of trial at Federal High court in the state.

According to her, “our performance in terms of demographics in arrest and drug seizures shows a lot of improvement and as such we are not resting on our oars. The command apprehended 412 drug suspects with 206.2241kgs of various illicit drugs between January and June, 2017.

Furthermore, the most disturbing factors is that of students of higher learning engaging in illicit use and dealing in drug activities. The ones arrested have been charged to court and some serving their prison/jail terms.”

Maryam continued when she said the theme for this year’s day celebration was “Listen First” with emphasis on the parents, guardians, proprietors and the people in charge of children to listen to children and youths to understand their needs and prevent them from getting involved in drug use and trafficking.
