An NGO ‘Restoration Project Support Group Katsina’  has organized 1-day sensitization workshop against drug abuse held on Friday at social development center Katsina.

The program was supported by the Special Adviser to Katsina state Governor on New Media Malam Abdul-hadi Ahmad Bawa meant to prepare for the upcoming sensitization rally scheduled to hold soon across the state in-view of sensitizing public on the ill-effects of drug abuse and other related offenses.

The chairman of the NGO Abubakar Lawal Saulawa spoke at length on the need to organize the rally in look of the recent up rise in drug cases across the state. “The rally is very vital considering the recent report by the NDLEA which Katsina State rated the second largest in drug abuse and other related cases”. He said.

Earlier, an official of the NDLEA expressed dismay over Youths involvement in drug abuse, gave a lecture on the challenges and dangers of drug abuse and how to achieve lasting solution. He further advice youths to shun drugs and participate in any program and policies aimed to eradicate the menace in our society.

While speaking the S.A on new media Malam Abdulhadi Ahmad Bawa task parents to monitor the activities of their wards closely especially by keeping them away from bad associates.

He added that parents are the leading factor in examining the behavioral conduct of the children. The special adviser however stress the efforts and the support given by Masari led administration to any policy and program aimed to eradicate the menace of drug abuse in Katsina state.

Malam Abdulhadi assured more support to the NGO and any group that organizes awareness program on the dangers of drugs in our society. “The problem is ours, we must solve it ourselves.” He said

Among those in attendance are the Special Adviser to the state Governor on youth’s Matters represented by Muntari Lawal, A representative from National orientation Agency (NOA), and members from different organizations across the state.

It been recalled that two weeks ago Katsina state was rated as the second largest in drug abuse and other related offence after Kano in a report released by National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA).
