One thousand four hundred undergraduate students who gained admission into Al-Qalam University Katsina for the 2016/2017 academic session have taken the oath of allegiance to the university.
This is contained in a statement signed by the the University’s information officer Akilu Atiku Abubakar and gotten by KATSINA POST.
In a colourful occasion which took place on Friday 17th March 2017, the Deans of the four Colleges of the University presented their students to the Vice-Chancellor, Professor Shehu G. Ado for the Matriculation.
Earlier, in a speech, the Registrar of the University, Mallam Sani Abashe Adamu described the ceremony as another milestone in the history of the university explaining that the matriculation was the 12th in the series.
The Registrar said the students are lucky to join the University considering its unique features as the first Islamic based University in the North-West Region of the Country.
Also addressing the students, the Vice-Chancellor, Professor Shehu G. Ado noted that the university is becoming popular as so many students wanted to be enrolled and therefore enjoined the Matriculating students to work hard in their various chosen disciplines.
He said, as a University with a different thought, the students should express themselves within the tenets of Islam, our traditional norms and values.
The Vice-Chancellor also sounded a word of warning saying that the University Authorities would not hesitate to deal with students who engage in any form of misconduct.
While congratulating the students, Professor Shehu G. Ado also called on the University Community to work as a team pointing out that in two months time, the National Universities Commission (NUC) would conduct accreditation visit to 13 Courses and five more in November this year.
The programme of the Matriculation also featured orientation lectures to protect the students against vices such as drug abuse, examination malpractices, cultism and sexual harassments.
