Suleman Musa ‘Ronaldo’ injured as Katsina United seek first away points from El Kanemi of Borno
Katsina United will be gunning for their first away points of the new NPFL season when they face hosts ElKanemi Warriors this afternoon in Maiduguri.
‘The Changi Boys’ have won their first home games against Gombe United and Nasarawa, but lost 2-0 at Abia Warriors on their return to the top flight after a 15-year absence.
Long-serving Katsina goalkeeper Yinka David said it will be difficult in Maiduguri, which El Kanemi have made a fortress after hosting their league matches in Kano and Katsina due to the Boko Haram menace.
“We are eager to pick points away from home. We have won our two home matches and we need to win away or pick away draw now,” he said.
“We are in Maiduguri with a mindset for total victory even though we know it will be difficult because it is a difficult ground to pick points.”
In another news, Katsina United match winner against Nassarawa United Suleman Musa ‘Ronaldo’ has been ruled out of tomorrow’s NPFL clash at El Kanemi Warriors due to injury.
On Sunday, lanky striker Musa came off the bench to score the winning goal at home against Nasarawa United.
He was voted Man of the Match.
The homegrown star did not travel with the rest of the squad on account of the injury.
Striker Obinna Eleje has returned to the match day squad after he was left out on Sunday.
Kick-off time is 4pm.
