Sen. Abu Ibrahim (APC, Katsina) is now in his third term in the Senate. This is besides his short sojourn in the hallowed chamber during the IBBs short-lived 1991-93 session. In an interview with Dailytrust, among other issues, the Senator, blast back at his critics and also boosted of him constituency’s support ahead of 2019.
Bellow is an excerpt KATSINA POST culled from the interview:
When the senator was asked by the newspaper correspondent that: Did he think now is the right time to start talking of 2019?
The Senator started by saying, “Look, the party (APC leaders) came here saying they heard I was saying I will not contest election in 2019. So, chairmen, secretaries and other leaders of the party from the 11 local government areas of my senatorial zone came here and said I should stop saying I’ll not contest. That was when some people, who were not comfortable with what transpired, because they want to take over, started talking of constituency projects. But I know I’ve made my mark in that area (Katsina South) which cannot be erased. Look at the history of successes in my elections, starting from 40,000 votes, then 200,000, then 300,000 and 450,000 during the last election when I won in all the 117 wards, including the ward of my opponent in the senatorial district, who was the deputy governor. I defeated him in Paskari town and therefore you cannot tell me that my people don’t like me or I didn’t do anything for them. Apart from Sen. David Mark, tell me if there is any other person in this Senate that won election four times.”
