Three suspected kidnappers have been arrested by police in Sabuwa Local Government Area of Katsina State as the eight man gangsters were waiting to collect one million ransom. The police also rescued a man, Malam Isah and a woman, Rabi Ilya, who were kidnapped by the gunmen on 16 November, 2016, at a village in Giwa Local Government Area of Kaduna State.
The spokesman of Katsina State Police Command, Salisu Abubakar Agaisa, (DSP) told LEADERSHIP that the suspects were arrested on 23 November, 2016, following a disagreement and a gun duel between the kidnappers over Malam Isah who was granted freedom to and bring their ransom.
He said the two victims of the kidnappers were rescued by detectives and reunited with their families by the detectives who stormed the criminals’ hideout following a tip off.

LEADERSHIP learnt that the alleged Kidnappers had initially agreed to collect six million naira before they suddenly jerked up their demand to N10 million for any deal with the distraught family.
It was authoritatively learnt that the law maker’s family made all efforts to raise an undisclosed ransom for his safe release after about three days in captivity.
A dependable source said the family of the law maker kept the negotiation from the ambit of law as it was warned that the law maker would risk assassination if his abductors suspected any move by security operatives.
A close associate of the family who pleaded anonymity however toldLEADERSHIP that the driver of the kidnapped member was reported nominated to deliver the ransom to the bandits.
Before the man regained freedom after three days in captivity, the spokesman of the state police command, DSP Salisu Abubakar Agaisa, however told our correspondent that the police knew nothing about the ransom demand; adding the Kaduna Police Command and its Katsina counterpart had spread their dragged net for the suspected men of the underworld to rescue the law maker.
