Katsina Lawmakers to summon Masari’s S.A. on power over 7-month Blackout In Dutsi LG
Katsina State House of Assembly has called on stakeholders to hasten the restoration of power supply to communities in Dutsi local government area of the state plunged into total darkness for the past seven months.
The lawmakers rose with the unanimous resolution following the adoption of a motion on the matter sponsored by Hon Haruna Aliyu Yamel, representing Dutsi constituency in the house.
While defending the motion, Yamel revealed that the faulty high tension line Shargalle to Dutsi connected Yamel, Masanawa, Bashe and Dutsi communities in the area to the national grid.
The lawmaker noted that the negative development had crippled socio-economic activities of the residents, especially small scale business operators, in the area.
He, therefore, prayed the for house’s intervention to enable the communities enjoy the significant improvement in power supply attained under the present All Progressives Congress (APC) administration.
In his contribution, member representing Katsina local government area, Hambali Farouk, expatiated that leaving about 11 to 33KVA high tension cables in bad conditions in area and others in the state posed huge threat to people’s lives and property.
He advised that the House should summon the special adviser to the state government on power to give detail explanation to the house so that government would take action to prevent the loss of lives and property.
The Speaker of the house, Hon. Sabiu Aliyu Muduru, directed the clerk of the House to convey its unanimous decision on the matter to the executive arm of the government to initiate moves to facilitate the repair of the power lines.
