Late Yar’Adua’s son organize football competition in honor of Dikko Radda
The eldest son of Late President Umaru Musa Yar’adua, Ibrahim Yar’adua has sponsored a football tournament in honor of his uncle and Director General, Small and Medium Enterprises Development Agency, SMEDAN, Dr Dikko Umar Radda.
The tournament comprising of 32 teams which from Katsina Senatorial zone is going to be be played in the Katsina township stadium over a period of two months.
The tournament was kicked off on Sunday evening by the Director General, SMEDAN represented by his aide Alhaji Abdullahi General.
While speaking with Katsina Post, Ibrahim Yar’adua said the aim of organizing the tournament is to further unite the youths of Katsina State.
“What we want to achieve with this tournament is youths unity and you know football is very popular especially among the young people has such a uniting power.
“Youths constitute the larger population in the country but because they are not united, they are still being bedeviling by so many socio-economic problems especially bordering unemployment and other social vises”, he said.
Katsina Post learnt that two matches were played on Sunday with Junior Marseille FC defeating FC Wigan five (5) to four (4) on penalty shootout after a goalless draw and later on FC K/Soro defeated Sevilla FC with a goal to nill.
Other important dignitaries that graced the kick-off event includes the Honorable Commissioner of Education, Dr Badamasi Lawal Charanchi, Director Sports, Alhaji Nalado Kankia and Alhaji Kabir Usman Amoga, Chairman Gwagware Foundation among others.
