Banditry: Shehu Sani warns Governor Masari against inciting comments

Former Senator Shehu Sani on Wednesday advised the Katsina State governor, Aminu Bello Masari on the implications of his utterances against insurgents.

Recall that Katsina State has faced security threats for some time, as they kidnap and demand unaffordable ransom at will.

In May 2021, gunmen suspected to be bandits abducted 15 traders travelling in a commercial vehicle along Tsaskiya-Ummadau road in Safana Local Government Area of Katsina State.

Also in June, scores of armed bandits on motorbikes after the Juma’at prayers, blocked Jibiya-Batsari road in Kabobi village, Katsina State and made away with 11 passengers.

Disturbed by incessant kidnapping, killings and demand for ransom in his state, the Katsina State Governor, Aminu Bello Masari had on Tuesday told the people of the state when he paid condolence to families of 10 persons killed after being hit by a Nigerian Custom vehicle, that it’s time to take arms against bandits.

However, former Senator Shehu Sani on his Facebook page on Wednesday advised Masari to be mindful of statements that would turn kidnappers against his people.

He claimed the Benue governor and TY Danjuma had said the same thing earlier, but it turned against them.

Sani said, “The Katsina Governor has reportedly called on his people to rise in arms against the bandits and open declaration and admission that those saddled with the security responsibilities have failed:

“The last time Benue Governor and TY Danjuma said the same thing, some went hard on them.” He said.
