A Katsina based Non-Governmental Organization Kungiyar Hannu Daya has donated drugs worth thousands of Naira to Primary health centre Tudin-Wada Funtua for treatment of Cholera in the centre.
While handing over the drugs to Sarkin Maska District head of Funtua Alhaji Sambo Idris Sambo and the In-Charge of the PHC, the Chairman of the Organization Dr Sani Abdu Fari said as Funtua recorded the highest number of cholera cases in the state, it became imperative for all and sundry to compliment governments for the treatment and prevention of the disease.
The In-Charge of the PHC Lawal Sale Auta said since May 2021 the centre has admitted One thousand two hundred and twenty-seven cholera patients, thirty deaths and twenty-two active cases at the centre
He said the PHC Tudun-Wada is now the Isolation centre for the treatment of cholera since the beginning of the outbreak in May and they have been treating cholera patients from Funtua, Sabuwa, Faskari and Bakori Local Government areas as well as patients from the neighbouring states of Kaduna and Zamfara.
While going around the Cholera Isolation centre, the Chairman of Hannu Daya Dr Sani Fari noted that despite Government effort at the Center, there is a need for special intervention as most patients were laying on the floor due to insufficient beds.
He called on the State Government to allocate more drugs to the centre as it is receiving an influx of patients from various communities and the majority of them are poor as they can’t afford to buy drugs.
The Sarkin Maska district head of Funtua Alhaji Sambo Idris Sambo expressed appreciation to Kungiyar Hannu Daya for the donation which he said will go a long way in helping the less privileged who are in dire need of such assistance and charged other organizations to emulate them.
