Women Doctors Mark World Breastfeeding Week In Katsina
As part of the activities to Celebrate World Breastfeeding week 2021 (from 1st -7th August), the Medical Women Association of Nigeria (MWAN) held an event on Thursday at Maternal And Child Healthcare Center, MCHC Kofar Marusa.
The event had in attendance, more than 100 women and men including the Executive Secretary, Katsina State Primary Health Care Development Agency, Dr Shamsuddeen Yahaya and many health experts.
During the event, discussions were around early initiation to breast, exclusive and complementary feeding, Male support to women during the period of lactation and benefits of breastfeeding to the family.
Medical experts including Dr Uwani Muhammad from Katsina State Hospital Services Management Board, Dr Fatima Nasir and Dr Fatima Umar from Federal Medical Center Katsina were among the Speakers this morning.
In an interview with Katsina Post, the President of the Association, Dr Saadiyya Nasir said the event is part of the association’s activities to join other health professional groups around the world to mark the World Breastfeeding Day.
According to the her, they decided to invite men to the health talk being them important stakeholders in family structures and also key to the success of breastfeeding.
