Group protests ‘hijack’ of Katsina teachers’ appointment

Katsina Assembly Members Hijack Teachers Recruitment – Group Alleges

A group Forum For Delivery of Justice in Katsina, yesterday protested to the Katsina State government over what they called the “hijack” of the primary school teachers’ recruitment exercise in Katsina by some members of the Katsina State House of Assembly, which had led to the displacement of over 200 qualified applicants with the names of the relations of the Assembly members, The Nation reports.

The Forum, which was led by their Chairman, Alhaji Sani Bawa Dutsinma, told the Secretary to the State Government (SSG), Alhaji Mustapha Mohammed Inuwa, that the state government should intervene urgently to ensure justice and fair play and the reinstatement of the names of the displaced applicants.

He said: “We request your intervention on the plight of our children who applied to be employed as primary school teachers in the state sometime last year.

“They completed all documentation with regard to appointment as primary school teachers, but some members of the state House of Assembly hijacked the process of appointment and removed their names and replaced them with their personal candidates.”
