Katsina gov’t leases 4 fertilizer companies to private investors
The Honourable Commissioner Ministry of Resource Development, Hon. Abdullahi A. Imam (FCNA) has signed agreements for the leasing of four fertilizer cottage industries to the successful bidders.
This came after obtaining approval from the State Executive Council last meeting on the 7th July.
The fertilizer companies leased are located at Safana, Bakori, Batsari and Mai’adua Local Government Areas of the State.
During the signing of the leasing agreements, the Honorable Commissioner reaffirmed the commitment of the Governor Masari’s led administration towards developing the solid minerals sector in the State.
Furthermore, he reminded the lessees to adhere strictly with the terms of agreement and directed them to conduct their businesses with consideration of the people in Katsina State.

Katsina State Exploration and Mining Company Ltd (KEMCO) said the leasing of the companies will lead to the increase in the state’s Internally Generated Revenue, IGR, fertilizer production and by extension, provide employment to the teaming youths in the State.
Mr Dansani also said the optimal utilization of the industries will ensure harassing of solid minerals potential of the state adding that almost 80% content of the fertilizer to be produced will be sourced locally.
