Hajiya Binta Nyako was born on 14 May 1959 in Remawa, in Rimi Local Government Area of Katsina State, Nigeria and married into the family of former Adamawa State governor, Vice Admiral Murtala Nyako (rtd).

She is one of the four wives married to the former governor. She first entered the spotlight for her battle for the position of governor’s wife against other wives.

The office of the governor’s wife remained vacant for over a hundred days as the claim and struggle for the controversial office continued.

Appointment

She received an appointment to serve as the new trial judge of the IPOB leader, Mazi Nnamdi Kanu. However, the group expression showed that rejected the appointment.

In their claim, Binta is sister to President Muhammadu Buhari and would be biased in their leader’s trial. On 28 July 2000, she climbed the ladder in her career to the position of Judge.

Qualifications

In 1968, she enrolled at Maryland Covenant School, Ikeja, Lagos, and studied until 1970.

She moved to Army Children School, Dantunku road, Kaduna in the same year and graduated with a Primary School Certificate in 1971.

She then attended Queens College, Yaba, Lagos where she obtained her WASC (1972-1976). From 1976-1977, Binta attended the School of Basic Studies, A.B.U. Zaria (JAMB).

In 1977, she enrolled for an LL.B at the Institute of Administration, Amadu Bello University, Zaria.

In 1981, she went to the Nigerian Law School, Victoria Island, Lagos. She served her fatherland through the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC).
